Shot on: 4/1/12
The Idea: Originally, the idea was to make some plant-like creature out of the model, but this quickly evolved into a badass Valkyrie shoot.
The Model: Jamie Stevens. This girl is just a bad ass. Working with her was a joy and her stories entertained throughout the shoot. It was probably her strong character that made me start bringing out the swords and turning this makeup into a Valkyrie.
The Experience: Working with Jamie and Valerie Vanity was a great experience. The ideas flowed easily, the makeup came together well/quickly and the shots I got out of it made me pretty happy during the shoot (always a good sign).
The Rub: Feathers and a ton of yellow makeup. I never worked with feathers before, so I wasn’t quite sure how we’d pull off the feathers in the eyebrows, but Valerie was there and knew exactly what needed to be done to have them on and without threat of falling off mid-shoot.
The Gear: Canon T2i, 18 – 55mm kit lens, continuous bulbs with Muslin backdrop.
